After quitting a job after just three months, failing twice in his attempts to pass the graduate school entrance exams, and struggling to find any job that could provide a livelihood, Shinta neither knows nor cares what the future holds for him. One day, while wandering aimlessly on the street, Shinta encounters a mysterious man named Yomiyo (voiced by Ryoichi Yamamoto), who invites him to participate in an experiment that seems highly ominous. Despite his doubts, Shinta is tempted by the promise of significant financial gain and the assurance of finding a job. According to the requirements, Shinta will have to take a mysterious pill, which will make his appearance revert to that of a 17-year-old. He will then need to enroll in the third year of high school, with the entire experiment lasting for one year. Thus, Shinta returns to school. What kind of life awaits him there?
