The story begins on a gambling ship in the dead of night... The male protagonist, Kaishi Ito, is aimless and unsuccessful, burdened with millions of debt due to a good-hearted act of guaranteeing someone else. To repay his debts, Kaishi is persuaded to board a ferry called "The Ship of Hope" to participate in a mysterious gambling game. If he wins, he will have his debts wiped clean. Once on the ship, Kaishi discovers that the participants are mostly young failures like himself. The organizers then reveal the rules of the game: Participants must use playing cards marked with "Rock, Paper, Scissors" as props to seize star markers from their opponents. At the end of the game, those who have not used up their cards or have fewer than three stars will be disqualified.
