In the near future, a global pandemic known as "Medusa," or Acquired Cellular Immobilization Syndrome (ACIS), spreads rapidly. Those infected undergo a latent period of 30 to 60 days before the disease manifests, leading to death within a mere 12 days. At the time of death, the body turns to stone, a horrifying sight. With no cure or effective treatment available, humanity plunges into a state of panic, akin to the end of the world. Just as despair sets in, the scientific research company Venus Gate announces that it can preserve human life through cryogenic sleep. However, only 160 people worldwide are eligible to enter the cryogenic capsules. Young girl Ichiro Kasuga (voiced by Hanako Tomono) is fortunate enough to be one of the 160 selected, but she must endure the painful separation from her beloved twin sister. When Kasuga awakens again, she discovers that the headquarters of Venus Gate is in disarray, and a group of strange creatures attacks the survivors. Only a handful manage to escape with their lives. What cruel fate awaits Kasuga? This film is adapted from the original manga of the same name by Yuji Iwahara.
