Blade Runner has an anime adaptation! Adult Swim (creators of Rick and Morty) has announced the release of Blade Runner: Black Lotus, a 13-hour Japanese anime-style series with an impressive lineup: produced by Sola Digital Arts (creators of Ultraman), directed by the team of Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kodaka, who worked together on Ghost in the Shell, for all episodes of the first season, and with Shinichiro Watanabe (creator of Cowboy Bebop) serving as the creative producer. The plot details are still under wraps, but the story is set in the year 2032, in the same dystopian future world where replicants exist, and familiar characters from the Blade Runner universe will appear. The main inspiration for the series comes from the second film in the series, Blade Runner 2049.
