High school student Shunichi Sakurada (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) suffers from a paranormal condition that causes him to inadvertently attract numerous spirits. One day, he stumbles into a magical shop and meets the beautiful and mysterious owner, Ichiyo Ichijou (voiced by Sayaka Ohara). Ichiyo informs him that this is a shop that grants wishes, and Shunichi wishes to rid himself of his paranormal condition. However, the cost of this wish is exorbitant, so Shunichi is forced to work in the shop to pay off his debt. During his time there, he meets a silent ghost named Shizuku (voiced by Kazuyuki Sogabe), a girl named Aoi Kyuken (voiced by Shizuka Ito) who is plagued by misfortune, and an oddly shaped pet named Mokona. As he works, Shunichi becomes involved in various incidents related to wishes, discovering that there are good wishes, bad wishes, simple wishes, and some wishes that are impossible to fulfill no matter how hard one tries. Humanity, destiny, inevitability, and chance all seem to be under the control of the shop owner, Ichiyo Ichijou.
