The story of *Higurashi no Naku Koro ni* begins in June of Showa 58 (1983), when the male protagonist, Keiichi Sugiyama, moves to the small town of Hinamizawa, which has a population of less than 2,000, to start a new life. There, he meets classmates Rena Ryuugu, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Hojo, and Rika Furude, becoming friends with them in a club. However, there is a past that Keiichi is unaware of in this small town... and the events of the story begin to unfold. *Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu* continues the story of *Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gyakuten*, where Hinamizawa, which appears to be the same as the past, undergoes changes without anyone noticing.
