An accident gives Hidaka Shiki (voiced by Kenichi Suzuki) the ability to see "death lines," which are lines that run through various objects. By cutting along these lines, one can easily destroy the object. This ability causes Shiki great distress. One day, on his way home from school, Shiki encounters a woman in white, and an unexpected surge of murderous intent causes him to react instinctively, slicing her into pieces before he can stop himself. The next day, the woman, who should have been dead, stands before Shiki. She introduces herself as Elquid (voiced by Hitomi Shida), an immortal vampire who has been tracking and attempting to eliminate the vampire Roa (voiced by Kentaro Mikawa). Shiki's attack has left Elquid in a severely weakened state, and until she recovers, Shiki must protect her. After witnessing Roa's atrocities, Shiki decides to join the mission to eliminate him. Meanwhile, the church's Syl (voiced by Fumiko Orikasa) also harbors a deep grudge against Roa. As Shiki tracks Roa, he begins to realize that some extraordinary memories are resurfacing in his mind, and the past he has always believed in turns out to be a lie.
