In May 1945... Germany. Amid the fallen Berlin, some individuals are conducting a ritual. For them, defeat in the war is merely a trivial matter, and they even use the numerous sacrifices resulting from the war as a catalyst for their ritual, offering them as sacrifices. Whether their attempt succeeded or failed, no one knows. After the war, they went into hiding, their fate unknown—whether alive or dead, even their existence is uncertain. No one knows the truth; only rumors spread. The Thirteen Knights of the Holy Lance—supernatural beings born from the darkness of Nazi Germany. They will return, and at that time, the world will be destroyed. Thus, it is absolutely forbidden to allow their return—a rumor that spreads. Then, 61 years pass. Most of those who knew of their existence have already passed away, and everyone has forgotten them. However, in 2006... Japan. Ryo Fujii, a student at the academy in Suwa City, breaks ties with his best friend, Sozo Iwaso, after a certain incident. The result of their fierce fight is two months of mandatory hospitalization. The season changes from autumn to winter—December, approaching Christmas. With a sense of loss as if half of himself has been taken away, Ryo, upon being discharged from the hospital, contemplates rebuilding a new everyday life without Sozo. The past cannot be retrieved. Then, at least, he wants to cherish what he has in his hands now... But, even this wish shatters. Every night, he dreams of a guillotine. A serial killer hunting for heads. Black-clad "knights" chasing him. Unreasonable events beyond common sense cover the city, gradually eroding it. This abnormality is completely unlike anything two months ago; it is an extraordinary non-daily life that shatters everything accumulated so far. If things don't change, he can't live. If he doesn't live, he can't return. At the center of a world spiraling out of control at an accelerating pace, Ryo alone crosses the boundary between the everyday and the extraordinary. He doesn't expect anything extraordinary. He doesn't intend to raise the banner of justice or righteousness. He just wants to go back. Back to those mundane, boring, yet ordinary and warm times. With a solemn resolve, Sozo's voice echoes. "Anyone who stays in this city will eventually go crazy," he says. The battle against the Thirteen Knights of the Holy Lance. A continuous war filled with madness, slaughter, and curses. At the end of it all, what will Ryo see?
