"New Year's Day" uses a child's perspective to explore the traditions and customs of the Ming Dynasty's Jia Ding New Year, four hundred years ago. Amidst the sound of firecrackers, children play together, while elders climb wooden ladders to paste Spring Festival couplets and hang lanterns, and mothers are busy preparing a sumptuous New Year's meal in the kitchen. A child sneaks into the kitchen for a snack and is caught by his father, who uses traditional etiquette to guide him. In the countryside, carriages bring visitors for New Year's greetings, with bows and courtesies performed without omission. A bowl of "New Year's soup" blends rustic simplicity with warmth, conveying the atmosphere of the ancient New Year. "Yearning" tells the story of Tong'er, a Qing Dynasty youth with a long braid (full name Wang Chutong), who has been childhood sweethearts with Liu'er. They pledged their love with red beans when they were young. However, as adults, their mismatched social status prevents them from being together, and even when they meet by chance, they can only pass each other by with regret. Later, Liu'er is forced to marry a wealthy young master, leaving her unable to stay with her beloved youth. Despite losing his love, the young man achieves success and leaves his hometown on a small boat, carrying a handkerchief embroidered by Liu'er with a red bean pattern. "Song of the Wanderer" is based on the story of Wang Mingsheng, a Qing Dynasty historian and scholar of classical studies, presenting a universal story of maternal love that has endured for a thousand years. It also offers insights to busy "wanderers" through the stories of characters in traditional culture. In the animated short "Drinking on the Lake After Rain," classic ancient poetry is sung as a folk song, set against the backdrop of a Ming Dynasty Mid-Autumn Night. The story of scholar Lou Jian, who failed the imperial examination and wandered on a boat in Jia Ding, brings a bright and clear full moon to the hearts of every disappointed person. The short film "Night Thoughts" recounts the story of famous diplomat Gu Weijun from Jia Ding, who, as the only Chinese representative of the League of Nations investigation team, traveled to Northeast China in 1932 to investigate the truth behind the "September 18th Incident" and the establishment of the puppet state of Manchukuo. ——Baidu Encyclopedia
