Tetsuya Kuroko and Daiki Kagami join the Seirin High School basketball team. While Kagami has exceptional ball handling skills, Kuroko is a player who seems to have "almost no presence" on the court. However, Kuroko was once a member of the basketball team at Teikou Middle School, where he played alongside the five legendary "Miracle Generation" players, earning the nickname "The Dream Sixth Man" for his contributions on the court. The duo, known as "Shadow" and "Light," becomes the backbone of the Seirin team, leading them to qualify for the Winter Invitational Tournament and defeating other powerful teams with members from the "Miracle Generation" to win the national championship. At the end of the summer before their second year of high school, a streetball team called "Jabberwock," composed of 18-year-old American basketball prodigies, visits Japan and plays a friendly match against the Japanese national team. With overwhelming strength, they crush the Japanese team and mock them. This infuriates Seirin's coach, Reiko's father, Keiichi. The former Japanese national team player decides to gather Kuroko and Kagami, along with the other members of the "Miracle Generation," to form a temporary dream team called "VORPALSWORDS," vowing to take revenge on "Jabberwock." The stage is set for the most intense battle yet!
