Video information
The story takes place in a future time and space, where the rampant spread of dog flu prompts the mayor (voiced by Kenichi Nanba) to issue a decree exiling all dogs in the city to "Trash Island," leaving them to fend for themselves. The mayor's guard dog, Dian Dian (voiced by Liev Schreiber), is the first to be sent there. As a result, the dogs that were once pampered pets in homes now become stray dogs scavenging for food in the garbage piles. Leader (voiced by Bryan Cranston), Monarch (voiced by Edward Norton), Boss (voiced by Bill Murray), Duke (voiced by Jeff Goldblum), and King (voiced by Bob Balaban) are five stray dogs on the island who usually travel together. One day, the mayor's adopted son, Atarai (voiced by Koyu Rankin), suddenly lands on the island in a plane, searching for his lifelong friend, Dian Dian.
