In the border region between Sichuan and Yunnan in southwestern China, there lives an ancient ethnic group known to the world as the Mosuo. However, from ancient times to the present, they refer to themselves as "Na." "Na People's Story" is about their story, a collective declaration from the Mosuo people. "Na People's Story" is not an academic documentary, nor does it focus on "hot topics." Instead, it regards ordinary Mosuo people as another form of life, to observe and listen to them. Twenty-five ordinary Mosuo faces look at us in front of the screen, expressing their understanding, emotions, and wishes about the world in their own words, rather than being represented by others. It also gives us an opportunity to listen to their voices, accept our differences, and see how similar we are and how we are interconnected. This is a story about misunderstandings and being misunderstood, understanding and being understood; it is a story about respect, differences, and similarities; it is a story about the present of their homeland, about love, and about all of us.
