Video information

As early as 3,600 years ago, the descendants of the fire god Zhurong, who once lived in the Central Plains, were driven out by the Shang Dynasty. They then moved south as a whole tribe, enduring countless hardships, and finally settled in the humid and sultry barbarian regions of the south. They named themselves the "Chu people," and although they were on the outskirts, they always harbored the idea of returning to the Central Plains. The Chu leader Yuxiong helped the Zhou Dynasty overthrow the rule of Shang Zhou, but he did not receive the respect and enfeoffment he deserved. The southern inspection tour of King Zhou of Zhou completely dashed their hopes for the emperor. With capable rulers such as Xiong Qu, Xiong Tong, and King Zhuang of Chu as representatives, the Chu people began to attempt to expand into the Central Plains. The invasion of Su, the invasion by Duke Huan of Qi, the Battle of Chengpu, and the Wu-Chu War. Hundreds of years of brutal wars tempered the iron will of the Chu people. Over 800 years of foundation gradually led to prosperity, but also to decline and collapse. This film recreates the grand history of the Chu Kingdom for the audience based on a large amount of historical records and unearthed artifacts.
