I'm not afraid of dying, I just don't want to live this way. In early 2014, Chai Jing, a reporter who resigned from CCTV, released her self-funded documentary investigation on smog, "Under the Dome," on February 28, 2015. This was Chai Jing's first public appearance since her resignation. In the documentary, Chai Jing revealed the reason for her departure from CCTV. She stated that during her pregnancy, her daughter was diagnosed with a benign tumor and required surgery after birth. After resigning, Chai Jing spent some time specifically taking care of her daughter. However, during the process of taking care of her child, Chai Jing's feelings about smog became increasingly intense. Living in Beijing, where there are 175 days of pollution in a year, she feared that her daughter would one day ask her what blue sky is and why she is always kept indoors. Additionally, with society as a whole becoming increasingly concerned about air pollution issues, both her professional training and maternal instincts made her feel that she should address these questions: What is smog? Where does it come from? What should be done about it? Therefore, Chai Jing began this investigation.
