Video information

Experience a gripping story filled with hope, devastating setbacks, dazzling creativity, courage, and triumph. This is the seventh awe-inspiring space film created by the award-winning IMAX Space Team. "Hubble 3D," shot using IMAX 3D technology, vividly portrays the birth of the most significant scientific instrument since the original Galileo telescope and humanity's greatest achievement in space since the moon landing—the Hubble Space Telescope. Audiences will get an up-close look at astronauts completing some of NASA's most challenging missions in space, as well as experiencing the journey from deployment to implementation, from heartbreaking setbacks to dramatic rescues. "Hubble 3D" will also present a universe unlike any seen before, taking viewers of all ages on a journey through the vast galaxy, the birth and death of stars, and the lesser-known secrets of the celestial environment. The film is a collaboration between IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures, with assistance from NASA. IMAX 3D cameras returned to space to capture NASA's most complex shuttle operations. On May 11, 2009, the IMAX 3D cameras used to shoot the film were launched into space aboard the Atlantis space shuttle. Astronauts used them to capture five spacewalks required to repair and upgrade the Hubble telescope. "Hubble 3D" is produced by the team behind "International Space Station," led by producer and director Toni Myers, with cinematographer James Neihouse also serving as the astronauts' guide. Judy Carroll serves as associate producer, and Grahame Ferguson, one of the founders of IMAX and a producer of many IMAX space films, provided production consultation.
