Video information
With the rapid development of industrial civilization, various types of food have become scarce, but behind this seeming prosperity, food safety has reached a point that cannot be ignored. The film starts with the fast-food industry and gradually extends to agriculture, animal husbandry, and aquaculture, exposing how large food companies, in pursuit of high profits, have altered the growth patterns and cycles of plants and animals. While they have reaped substantial profits, the cost has been the health and safety of the public. On what appears to be clean food processing lines, Salmonella and E. coli have unimpeded access to food, poisoning human lives. Due to policy and other reasons, people are unable and powerless to resist the harm inflicted by large companies. In the face of money and desire, we are destroying ourselves... This film won the Best Documentary Award at the 2009 Washington Film Critics Association Awards.
