CCTV-10 will present a special Spring Festival program titled "A Hundred Years of Laughter," focusing on crosstalk, on the evening of New Year's Eve in 2002. This special program was produced by the "Person" column to practice the new concept of "Science and Education Channel" of CCTV, "Science for the New Year, Culture for the New Year," in preparation for the 2002 Spring Festival. Over the course of four hours, viewers will hear firsthand accounts from several generations of crosstalk performers, researchers, and ordinary people about the development of crosstalk, and enjoyHighlight from renowned crosstalk masters such as Li Deshi, Zhang Dequan, Zhang Shouchen, Ma Sanli, Chang Baokun, Hou Baolin, and Ma Ji. They will also experience the unique charm of crosstalk, an art form beloved by audiences. Although "A Hundred Years of Laughter" is centered on crosstalk, it is presented in the form of a documentary, showcasing the entertainment and cultural life of ordinary people through the history of crosstalk and other forms of traditional Chinese performing arts. It reflects on how performances evolved from "dropping the curtain" to "going on stage," to teahouses, and then to theaters; how crosstalk performers transitioned from wandering street performers to cultural workers in the new society; and how the art of crosstalk interacted with social life, continuously improving and refining itself to become a beloved form of traditional Chinese performing art. In summary, this special Spring Festival program has the following highlights worth watching: 1. Several generations of crosstalk and other traditional performing arts masters share their arduous and legendary artistic lives. This includes artists such as Ma Sanli, Ma Ji, Ma Zhiming, Dong Xiangkun, Sun Shuyun, Hua Wubao, Chang Baohua, Hou Yuewen, and dozens of others.
