Video information
"Air Crash Investigation" is a documentary program produced by Cineflix, a Canadian company. The program primarily covers major aviation accidents that occurred after the invention of the black box in the 1970s. In its third season, three episodes also included railway and maritime accidents. The program has different English titles depending on the channel it airs on: it is called "Mayday" on the Discovery Channel in Canada, "Air Emergency" in the United States, and "Air Crash Investigation" in the UK, France, and other countries. The program recreates the entire process of an accident, from passengers boarding the plane and takeoff, through to the incident itself, the aftermath, and the investigation, using dramatizations from the perspectives of passengers, pilots, and others involved. Interviews with passengers and pilots (if any survivors are willing to be interviewed) are interspersed throughout the episodes, along with interviews with accident investigators and witnesses. The program primarily relies on accident investigation reports and related news coverage for its content. If the investigation report is not publicly available, the program consults experts to piece together the full picture. The program is meticulous in its recreation of aircraft exteriors, flight attendant uniforms, and airports, although it is not entirely accurate and sometimes includes discrepancies, such as depicting a Boeing 737 cockpit as an Airbus A320 cockpit. In the dramatizations, actors who closely resemble the actual individuals involved are used.
