Little Zhao is a documentary about a young man from the post-90s generation. The film follows 19-year-old Little Zhao, a young man who once shouted "China, go for it! China forever!" on the streets of Pingyao, Shanxi. It follows him from Pingyao, where he grew up, to Chengdu, Sichuan, where he studied, and to Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, where he taught, documenting the changes in his emotions and thoughts over the four years from high school to his second year of college. It also presents, through Little Zhao's perspective, the anxiety and restlessness that China's society is currently experiencing.
