Video information

The documentary *Gongga* is divided into three episodes. Through vivid natural and life wonders such as vast and magnificent highlands, outsiders, and indigenous people, it narrates the "past and present" of the King of Sichuan Mountains—Mount Gongga—and its breathtaking beauty. Over a two-year period of uninterrupted filming, the production team recorded from a lowland river valley at an altitude of 1,800 meters to the summit of a snow-capped mountain over 6,000 meters high. They captured the life-and-death challenges faced by free climbers as they attempted to summit Mount Gongga, scientists enjoying the rich bounty of nature's gene bank, and the elaborate coming-of-age rituals of Tibetan girls in the river valley. They also documented the dedication and transcendence of stone-carving monks as they balanced their spiritual practice with their craft. Additionally, the documentary vividly portrays the unbroken bond of friendship between the Tibetan and Han peoples through engaging stories.
