History Channel has announced that the eight-episode documentary series *Barbarians Rising* will premiere on June 6th, and the show will subsequently air in 185 television markets worldwide. In the United States, the series will be broadcast over four weeks on the History Channel. The story depicts the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, but from the perspective of the barbarian rebels. Around Rome lived many tribes that embraced a violent and savage way of life, which the Roman Empire referred to as "barbarians" beyond the civilized world. However, these courageous men and women changed the course of history through heroic resistance and epic battles—either achieving freedom through combat or facing death, with no third option. This struggle lasted for 700 years (Note: as stated in the original text, the Roman Empire was founded in 27 BC, split in 395 AD, and the Western Roman Empire fell in 476 AD), ultimately leading to the destruction of the most powerful empire in human history. Specifically, the program delves into the stories of nine historically notable individuals or groups: General Hannibal, who swore at the age of nine to destroy the Roman Empire; Spartacus, who rose from slavery to lead a rebellion of barbarians; Boudica, the Celtic "Warrior Queen" who led the Britons in resistance against Roman invaders; Arminius, the Germanic tribal leader known as the "Stolen Son of Germany"; Attila, the Hunnic king from the East; the Gothic tribes, who were betrayed by the Roman Empire; the Visigoths, who once stormed Rome; the Lusitanians, who defeated Roman armies but were later conquered; and the Vandals, a Germanic tribe that looted Rome after the fall of the Roman Empire and severely damaged ancient artifacts.
