Video information

Guangxi is located in the southern frontier of the motherland, backed by the Greater Southwest, facing the South China Sea to the south, and looking towards Southeast Asia. It has always been a place where officials and merchants have gathered. Its unique geographical location has facilitated the convergence of various cultures, giving rise to distinctive local delicacies. These dishes not only incorporate the characteristics of regional cuisines such as Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Fujian, but also embrace the exotic flavors of Southeast Asia. They excel in combining various dishes, transforming coarse ingredients into fine dishes, and showcasing the unique taste of Guangxi—fresh, slightly spicy, and sweet and sour. The documentary series "The Flavors of Guangxi: A Dictionary of Gui Cuisine" consists of 12 episodes, each lasting 15 minutes. Nanning Television Station collaborated with nearly ten city television stations within the region, spending two years on production. The team traveled across the vast land of Guangxi, documenting dishes such as Nanning Lemon Duck, Beihai Sandworm Sashimi, Liuzhou Screw Noodles, Wuzhou Paper-Wrapped Chicken, and Hechi Nine Miles Fragrant Chicken. With a unique perspective, the series presents familiar yet unfamiliar Guangxi specialties, uncovering the touching stories behind the cuisine.
