Video information

Taiji, a picturesque fishing village in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, is a place of beauty, but it is also the site of a cruel and inhumane spectacle that plays out year after year. Each year, as thousands of dolphins pass through these waters on their migratory journey, their voyage is abruptly ended in Taiji. Fishermen drive the dolphins into a shallow cove near the shore, where trainers from around the world select the ones they want for captivity. The remaining dolphins are then slaughtered without mercy by the fishermen, all for no apparent reason. These massacres, these atrocities, are concealed by the government and related organizations due to various vested interests. Richard O'Barry, a former dolphin trainer, was once involved in filming the popular movie "Dolphin Tale." However, the death of one dolphin profoundly shook his conscience, leading him to dedicate his life to the cause of saving dolphins. Despite the relentless opposition from the local government and villagers, he and his film crew managed to infiltrate the dolphin slaughter site in Taiji, determined to expose the truth and save these beloved creatures. This film was awarded the Best Documentary Feature at the 82nd Academy Awards in 2010.
