Katia and Maurice Krafft were not only deeply in love with each other, but also passionately obsessed with volcanoes. For two decades, this adventurous French couple indulged in a thrilling, exhilarating "love triangle" with nature. They followed volcanic eruptions and their aftermaths around the world, capturing their discoveries with stunning photography and awe-inspiring footage, and sharing their experiences with curious audiences through media and touring lectures. Ultimately, Katia and Maurice perished in a volcanic eruption in Unzen, Japan, in 1991, but they left behind a rich legacy of knowledge and insights about nature. This visually stunning and emotionally resonant work won the Best Editing Award in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was selected as the opening film for the 2022 Swiss True Film Festival.
