Video information
Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, Kentucky, is a regional wrestling gym whose alumni include Brock Lesnar, Miz, John Cena, Dave Bautista, and Randy Orton. Once a prestigious finishing school for aspiring professional wrestlers, the gym fell on hard times. Wrestling legend Al Snow, who champions old-school wrestling ideals and storytelling, has a dedicated fanbase, but the gym struggles weekly to maintain enough relevance to keep its doors open. The financial situation became so dire that Al was forced to sell a majority stake to a group of local businessmen, including Kentucky's most popular radio personality, Matt Jones. Matt and the new ownership group injected much-needed cash into the struggling gym, but its operations remained in a shocking state of loss. The new owners gave Al a summer to turn things around. *The Wrestlers* documents Al and his group of aspiring wrestlers as they grapple with personal ambitions and each other while attempting to unite to save the historic gym.
