Video information

Before 1949, the name of Beijing was Beiping. The name "Beiping" became history with the birth of the new China, but the term "Pingbei," which is located north of Beiping, has endured and become more relevant over time, carrying the heroic deeds of martyrs who fought bravely in the War of Resistance Against Japan. Over eighty years ago, China was plagued by internal and external troubles, and the situation was dire. The Nationalists could no longer afford a peaceful life in Beiping. Chinese Communist Party members with a sense of national responsibility organized Beiping students to resist Japan and save the nation. The backbone of the student movement later became the backbone of the intellectual detachment of the Eighth Route Army, shedding blood to open up the Pingbei Anti-Japanese Base Area. The Pingbei Anti-Japanese Base Area was located on the forefront of the anti-Japanese war in North China, serving as a "shield" for the Pingxi Anti-Japanese Base Area; it also served as a transportation station and strategic support point for the Jidong Anti-Japanese Base Area, restraining and resisting a large number of Japanese puppet troops in North China, and having an important impact on the victory of the anti-Japanese war in Jin-Cha-Ji and even in North China. The film tells the story of the Eighth Route Army's three advances into Pingbei from 1938 to 1945, as well as the only intellectual detachment in the Eighth Route Army, the Tenth Detachment of the Jin-Cha-Ji Advance Army, which opened up the Pingbei Anti-Japanese Base Area with great sacrifice and arduous struggle. The film takes the representative figures of the December 9th Movement, such as Bai Yihua, and the representative figures of the Worker-Peasant Red Army, such as Duan Suquan, who stood up at the moment of national crisis, with a sense of national righteousness and responsibility, and raised the banner of youth, deeply into the heart of the enemy, pulling teeth from the tiger's mouth, relying on the three treasures of party building, armed struggle, and united front, establishing grassroots people's governments in Pingbei, establishing the anti-enemy military division headquarters, and leading the people of Pingbei to fight bravely against the enemy.
