Directed by Huang Wenhai, this Chinese independent documentary tells the story of Chinese migrant workers' rights protection. The director said that China has nearly 300 million migrant workers, and if their families are included, it is a large group of about 700 to 800 million people. In his view, the voices of this group are often difficult to be heard. He hopes that this film can reflect their voices to some extent and promote the cultural formation of this class to some degree. Over the past 30 years in China,crony capitalism has rapidly developed, and the blood and sweat of hundreds of millions of workers over two generations have created the "Chinese miracle." In the "World Factory," some workers have successfully claimed compensation after work-related injuries, while others have been sentenced to prison for organizing strikes. Some have been fired for representing workers in negotiations with employers, and others have almost lost their lawyer's license for providing legal consultations to workers. This group of workers from different provinces and across two generations have changed their own destinies through their struggle.
